Nilai strategically located, the town is also expected to benefit tremendously from the Malaysian Vision Valley new growth area covering the Seremban-Nilai-Port Dickson triangle, which will be carried out over 30 years.
PROPERTY developer GD Holdings Group recently held its annual Chinese New Year open house at Green Beverly Hills – its maiden development in Nilai, Negri Sembilan – to usher in the Year of the Rooster, as well as to thank business partners, bankers, investors and customers.
The company also took the opportunity to hold a soft launch of its third and final high-rise, Residensi Lili Tower B, comprising 246 condominium units, during the event.
The Green Beverly Hills project is a 140ha integrated development comprising bungalows and semi-detached homes, commercial and office lots, a five-star health-themed hotel and luxury apartments.
Former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who is GD Holding’s honorary chairman, opened the ceremony after joining guests at the customary yee sang tossing.
Several lion dance troupes joined in the merriment as guests took pictures with Abdullah and his wife Tun Jeanne Abdullah.
Managing director Huan Woon Han said the company faced many challenges when it started the Green Beverly Hills project in 2011.
“As Nilai was considered far away from the Klang Valley, most buyers, investors and bankers were extremely sceptical of the potential of real estate development here.
“It was even more challenging to convince all the stakeholders when the first development project of the group was two blocks of high-end, high-rise condominiums known as Sky Bungalows, which have today become the twin towers of Nilai,” he said.
According to Huan, the timing of the project, with a gross development value of RM4bil, was also not conducive as it was launched when Bank Negara introduced the “Responsible Lending Guidelines” to banks to curb rising household debt.
“Many housing projects were hard hit and could not be completed on time. But with our determination and perseverance, we managed to overcome all the challenges and completed our two projects successfully and on schedule,” he said.
Huan revealed that GD Holdings would be embarking soon on a few “exciting” projects in Nilai, as well as in other parts of the country.
“While the whole world is pessimistic and slowing their pace in view of the sluggish world economy, GD Holdings remains positive in undertaking several huge projects that will not only help promote home ownership but will also help to create employment and business opportunities for young Malaysians,” he said.
Huan added that the company expected to launch the first of a series of projects beginning June.
Also present at the event were Deputy Education Minister Datuk Chong Sin Woon, state MCA chief Datuk Seri Dr King Lim Chin Fui, and GD Holdings executive chairman Datuk Seri David Yeat Sew Chuong.
Chong, who is from Nilai, commended GD Holdings for picking the town for its maiden development.
“Not only is Nilai strategically located, the town is also expected to benefit tremendously from the Malaysian Vision Valley new growth area covering the Seremban-Nilai-Port Dickson triangle, which will be carried out over 30 years,” he said
