Crime rates drop in Negri Sembilan

SEREMBAN: Crime index in Negri Sembilan dropped by 25.8 per cent compared to the same period last year, thanks to the police motorcycle patrol unit, said Negri Sembilan Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department chief Assistant CommissionerChe Man Md Dros. Che Man said criminal cases reduced from 2,920 to 2,303 between Jan and June.

“We are using different patrol patterns in all areas and the reduction has proven that out strategies are effective.” He said following the success of the motorcycle patrol unit, police is now considering to use the unit in all eight other districts in the state. “At the moment, we only have three motorcycle patrol unit – two in Seremban and one in Nilai.

While our multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) patrol make their rounds in other districts. “We plan to establish at least one motorcycle patrol unit in every police station,” he said.
