Ops Warta: 13,000 traffic offenders are wanted in Negri Sembilan

 
“We are hunting 13,000 traffic offenders in the Negeri Sembilan who have outstanding summons, especially those with arrest warrant,” he said. He said most of the offenders were being charged at Magistrate Court. 

SEREMBAN: A total of 142 traffic offenders were arrested at their workplace across the state under Ops Warta as of Sunday.

Negri Sembilan traffic department staff officer Assistant Superintendent Zainuddin Ahmad said of the number, 108 had been taken to the court for various traffic offences including driving without license and speeding.

Zainuddin said 1,069 had surrendered and resolve their summons at the police station to avoid being detained in the operation.

“We are hunting 13,000 traffic offenders in the state who have outstanding summons, especially those with arrest warrant,” he said. He said most of the offenders were being charged at Magistrate Court.

“They were fined or may face prison time for failing to pay the ordered amount of compound,” he said. He said the operation was targeting the offenders’ workplace as previous Ops Warta found most of the offenders were away from home during the operation.

Ops Warta which began on May 19 scheduled to end on Sunday, however, Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, recently announced Ops Warta would be extended.

The decision was taken as only 50,000 of the 1.6million traffic offenders resolved their summons since the operation was launched.
