Selangor state exco in charge of Health, Welfare, Women and Family Affairs, Dr Daroyah Alwi said the state government collected the funds for the project through government-linked companies (GLCs).
She added that the state government had already obtained 6.5 acres of land in Kuala Krai, Kelantan for the project.
"We are currently negotiating to obtain approval from the Kelantan government, once everything has been approved, then the project will run as soon as possible," Daroyah told the press after officiating the Red Cross and Red Crescent World 2015 Day organised by the Malaysian Red Crescent Selangor at Dataran Kemerdekaan Shah Alam here today.
Daroyah said that prefabricated materials would be used to build the houses to ensure the speedy completion of the project.
The east coast states was hit by massive floods last December, which led to damage and destruction of homes in the affected areas.
According to the records of the Kelantan State Floods Joint Committee, 1,827 houses were completely destroyed by the floods in the state, and about 1,200 of the victims did not own housing plots.
Meanwhile, Daroyah said Selangor is reviewing the option to absorb the Goods and Services Tax(GST) imposed on services provided by the state's local councils, a move undertaken by the Johor government.
Daroyah said Selangor is reviewing their options as the move would require the state government to provide an allocation to the federal government.
"This would involve the state to allocate GST imposed on services provided by the state's local councils,we are currently reviewing the idea, and if there is a need, we might implement it," Daroyah said.
