NILAI: Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) plans to expand its Unifi high-speed broadband (HSBB) coverage to Seremban township and Rasah next year.
TM Negeri Sembilan State general manager Ramlan Omar said currently TM's HSBB network was available in Nilai, Senawang and Seremban 2.
"We will do it (expand) in phases and as of now, we have 15,000 home-pass ready to subscribe to the service.
"Our customer-base in Negeri Sembilan has grown to about 6,000," he told reporters after signing three service agreements with Putra Nilai Development Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nilai Resources Group Sdn Bhd, here today.
Under the agreements, TM would provide HSBB network infrastructure and service to the latest phase of Putra Nilai residential development in Bandar Baru Nilai.
Under the collaboration, house buyers of Putra Nilai's latest development phases would enjoy TM's 5Mbps UniFi service for free up to two years.
UniFi is offered as a triple-play service comprising high-speed Internet, TM's Internet Protocol Television service, HyppTV and voice, with speeds from 5Mbps up to 20Mbps via fiber technology.
Ramlan and the vice-president for sales, consumer and SME Khaidir Elias signed the agreement on behalf of TM while Putra Nilai Development was represented by its executive chairman Tan Sri Dr Gan Kong Seng and Nilai Resources by its Group managing director Datuk Gan Eng Hong.
Ramlan said with the facilities, new buyers would be connected upon moving into their houses.
"This collaboration not only reflects our support towards the development of the Putra Nilai township but it is a testament to our commitment to bring HSBB connectivity to more customers in Negeri Sembilan," he said.
Meanwhile, Gan said with the service offered by TM, Putra Nilai's latest phase launched last week, the Alpina, would be fully take up within six months.
"We provide not just a house, but a Smart Home, so residents can enjoy all the facilities at their fingertips.
"Every home in the Alpinia, Amallis and Damai Florestar phase will be connected with UniFi to deliver these promises to the buyers," he added.-- Bernama
