SEREMBAN: Seremban Municipal Council (MPS) approved ‘Halloween Night’ banners because its staff did not know the meaning of Halloween.
The president of MPS, Abdul Halim Abdul Latif admitted that his staff did not know the meaning of Halloween and he ordered that all the banners be pulled down.
The banners were put by the Matrix International School, from Bandar Sri Sendayan.
“When the organiser applied for the advertisement (banner), my employee didn’t understand the meaning of Halloween.
“Furthermore inside the application form, the organiser stated the advertisement is for the school opening ceremony.
“So my employee approved the advertisement based on approval for the school opening ceremony because they didn’t understand the meaning of Halloween.
“However we took immediate action and all the advertisement (banners) were brought down with the cooperation of the organisers.
Meanwhile state education department (JPNS) director, Kalsom Khalid said the department didn’t get any application from Matrix International School to organise the ‘Halloween Night’.
“Schools must get approval from JPNS Private Management Unit (Unit Pengurusan Swasta JPNS).
“Officer from JPNS Private Management Unit will go to school on Monday (today) to get more information on the organising of the programme,” she said. --FreeMalaysiatoday
