PORT DICKSON: Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the state government wants to rebrand Port Dickson and gives it a new image.
He said the state government is discussing with the federal government currently, and moreover the latter had given its agreement in principle for the state government to create a new economic growth namely Putrajaya-Seremban-Port Dickson.
"It is hoped that the new golden triangle is able to accommodate the congestion in the Klang Valley. So, I hope this can be realised in the near future as the Putrajaya-Seremban-Port Dickson area would be placed in the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP) and under the plan we want to have new infrastructure.
"These have been approved and would be built soon -- an expressway from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Seremban that will be connected to the Lekas Highway (at Senawang), which will become the outer ringroad of Seremban.
"We will also ask for one more new highway from KLIA to Port Dickson stretching 21 kilometres," he said at the groundbreaking ceremony for a resort with water theme park called 'Splash Park' and serviced apartments by Tanco Holdings Bhd and its subsidiary Palm Springs Development Sdn Bhd at Palm Springs Resort City here today.
He said the state government is also discussing with Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) to extend the ERL services from KLIA to Port Dickson.
"This is in our plan and we will bring this plan to the federal government for inclusion in the 11MP. The new Port Dickson redevelopment blueprint has been completed and it will be rebranded and given a new image with several huge developments.
"We are currently giving an 'undertaking letter' or 'exclusivity letter' to an international company whereby we want to see the muddy areas in Lukut given the value-add and undertake development such as man-made island or others," he said.
Mohamad said the project would create a new development in Port Dickson, which would raised its profile and become a tourist attraction.-- BERNAMA
