PROPERTY developer Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd is scaling up its projects at Bandar Sri Sendayan (BSS) in Negri Sembilan, which is set to spur domestic and foreign investments in the multi-billion ringgit development.
The RM6 billion BSS is an integrated development comprising residential units, offices, retail components and education centres.
It also has an industrial component, Sendayan TechValley, which has attracted more than 10 major multinational companies, especially in the automotive- and aviation-related industries.
These include Nippon Kayaku, Hino Motor, Akashi-Kikai Industry, Keen Point Ltd, TMC Metal and Messier-Buggati-Dowty.
BSS, which is expected to be fully completed in eight years, is now about 20 per cent ready.
Last year, the BSS township was awarded “Sustainable Township of the Year” by World Sense Of Place.
Group managing director Datuk Lee Tian Hock said the 2,118ha mega development is poised to transform BSS into the “Daman-sara of Seremban”, adding that the company aims to make BSS a “cool” place like Damansara.
He said years ago, Seremban was overshadowed by Kuala Lumpur and Malacca and was regarded as an undeveloped town with no prospects.
“Similarly, back then Damansara was also slow-moving, but now, because of the high-impact industries and the affluent residential population in the area, it has become very vibrant,” he told Business Times recently.
“As a developer, we are constantly supporting the growth of Negri Sembilan, and we are working closely with the state government on this initiative. This once-sleepy town is finding itself being thrust into the limelight with the state government’s plan for it to be accorded city status this year,” he added.
Lee added that Matrix Concepts is banking on the promising Negri Sembilan property market that will continue to grow, due in part to highway accessibility.
Key property players such as IJM Land Bhd and Sime Darby Property Bhd have launched big projects there over the years.
“We expect the market to do well and remain resilient,” Lee said, noting that property prices in Negri Sembilan are still considered reasonable and affordable.
“Our competitive edge has always been to offer high quality yet affordably-priced homes in luxurious surroundings and amenities. We will continue to leverage on our reputation to attract our target markets,” he said.
